Liquidation of the Roma Camp (‘Zigeneurlager’) at Auschwitz-Birkenau

On the night of August 2–3, SS units murdered around 4,200 Roma and Sinti prisoners - mostly women, children, and the elderly - in the gas chambers. The event marked the final annihilation of the Roma population at Auschwitz and the 2nd August now marks Roma Genocide Remembrance Day.
