Anti-Christian Outcry and Flag Burning at Tilos Rádió

In January 2004, a massive scandal rocked Hungary after a host on Tilos Radio made an extremely anti-Christian remark during a Christmas broadcast. In response, thousands of conservative protesters gathered outside the radio station’s headquarters in Budapest. The protest turned violent: participants pelted the building with objects and—in a move that sparked international outrage—burned an Israeli flag. Public opinion was divided over the long-running issue: many were outraged by the anti-Christian, while others were by the anti-Semitic remarks. The radio channel was suspended for 30 days.
