Attack on a Rabbi in Árkád shopping mall

A Canadian rabbi visiting Budapest for Passover was assaulted in a shop at the Árkád mall, where an unknown man struck him and knocked off his kippah before fleeing. Police swiftly identified and arrested the perpetrator, who was charged with violence against a community member. Although the court confirmed the antisemitic motive, it downgraded the act to a misdemeanour, ruling it insufficient to cause public alarm.
