Foundation of MIÉP (Hungarian Justice and Life Party)

On 15 July 1993, István Csurka and expelled MDF members founded MIÉP, positioning it as a radical nationalist alternative to Hungary’s post-communist mainstream parties. The party blended xenophobia, antigypsyism and strong antisemitic conspiracy narratives, accusing “Jewish influence” of controlling politics, media and the economy. MIÉP entered parliament in 1998, amplifying far-right rhetoric, but failed to cross the threshold after 2002.
