Journalist assaulted with antisemitic abuse at protest

During an opposition demonstration in Budapest, journalist Barna Domokos Szász was harassed and then punched by members of the far-right-wing group Rendszervágás. The attackers shouted antisemitic slurs such as “go back to the circumcised ones” before breaking his nose. Despite riot police being nearby, they failed to intervene. The assailant was later convicted, and the court recognised the attack as a hate crime.
