Third Jewish Law

Enacted on 8 August 1941, the Third Jewish Law introduced explicitly racial definitions of Jewish identity, classifying anyone with one Jewish grandparent as Jewish regardless of religion. It banned marriage and sexual relations between Jews and non-Jews and further restricted employment opportunities. Modelled on the Nuremberg Laws, it deepened exclusion and prepared the legal foundation for the mass deportations and genocide that followed Germany’s 1944 occupation of Hungary.
