Trial of Ferenc Szálasi

Ferenc Szálasi, leader of the fascist Arrow Cross regime (1944–45), was tried in Budapest after being extradited from US custody. Charged with war crimes, crimes against humanity, and treason for his collaboration with Nazi Germany and responsibility for the mass murder of Hungarian Jews, he was convicted and executed on 12 March 1946. The trial marked a central moment in postwar accountability efforts.
