Vandalism at the Frankel Leó Street Synagogue

On 12 August, a swastika, SS symbols, and Hitler’s initials were painted on the Frankel Leó Street Synagogue and its lift. Police quickly identified and detained a 48-year-old Budapest man, who confessed to the crime. The use of banned Nazi symbols made the act a clear antisemitic provocation and a criminal offense under Hungarian law.
