Confiscation of Property

As part of broader collectivisation and nationalisation policies, the state carried out the expropriation of Jewish communal property. Synagogues, cemeteries, schools, and communal buildings were nationalised, neglected, or repurposed, often without consultation with surviving communities. This process significantly weakened Jewish communal infrastructure and contributed to the physical and symbolic erasure of Jewish presence from public spaces in many towns.
