Nitra Jewish Cemetery Desecration

In November 1990, the Jewish cemetery in Nitra was desecrated by unknown perpetrators. Gravestones were daubed with swastikas and antisemitic slogans calling for the extermination of Jews were painted on cemetery walls. The incident marked the emergence of antisemitic vandalism in post-communist Slovakia and exposed the reluctance of Slovak authorities to condemn such attacks.
