Party Purges

In the early 1950s, internal Communist Party purges disproportionately targeted Jewish members, including many veterans of anti-fascist resistance. Accused of Zionist sympathies or Western allegiances, they were expelled, demoted, or imprisoned. These purges eliminated Jewish voices from political life and sent a chilling message to the broader Jewish community about the dangers of visibility and participation.
