Vrba–Wetzler escape and Auschwitz report

Slovak Jews Alfred Wetzler and Walter Rosenberg (Rudolf Vrba) escaped Auschwitz in spring 1944 and produced one of the first detailed reports on the camp’s operations for dissemination in the West. This event is analytically important because it links Slovak Jewish experience directly to the emerging international awareness of extermination and shows resistance through documentation.
