On October 23 and 24, 1956, six residents of Wrocław were beaten. There were hooligan incidents, as well as a shooting in Bielawa, reported by the Social and Cultural Association of Jews in correspondence dated December 15. Cases of harassment of children and dismissals from work also occurred. Jews were blamed for the “distortions of socialism” and the “Stalinization of Poland.”
