Anti-Roma Riot in Varnsdorf, Šluknov Region

Around 500 extremists, supported by local residents, attempted to attack Roma-inhabited lodging houses in Varnsdorf amid a series of anti-Roma protests in the Šluknov region. Police blocked the mob after clashes. The riots worsened ethnic tensions, traumatised local Roma communities, and illustrated the mainstreaming of antigypsyist narratives.
