Murder of Tibor Berki in Žďár nad Sázavou

Skinheads armed with baseball bats attacked a Roma-occupied house, driven by racist hostility. Forty-two-year-old father of five, Tibor Berki, was beaten to death while defending his family. Courts recognised the hate motive, prompting government counter-extremism measures. The killing became a defining case of extreme 1990s antigypsyist violence and community terror.
