Arson Attack in Kétegyháza

Violence erupted in Kétegyháza after a street dispute escalated into collective retaliation against Roma residents. Non-Roma youths marched through the Roma area, vandalised homes and assaulted members of the Csurár family. That evening, several Roma houses were burned while police were present but failed to prevent the attacks. Years of ineffective legal proceedings left the perpetrators largely unpunished, illustrating the vulnerability of Roma communities and the systemic bias of local authorities in early post-communist Hungary.
