Bomb attack on Roma family home in Plavy

A homemade bomb detonated outside a Roma family’s house in Plavy, reflecting a wave of mid-1990s racist violence by Czech skinheads. Though no perpetrators were identified, the attack intensified fear among local Roma, contributing to rising emigration to the UK and Canada. Its antigypsyist context was underscored by repeated earlier attacks in the area. The use of explosives was rare, however.
