Declaration of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia

By decree of Adolf Hitler, the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia was established on March 16, 1939, under the “protection” of the German Reich. While most inhabitants became citizens of the Protectorate, those classified as members of the German nation were granted German nationality and Reich citizenship under the Nuremberg Laws. From the outset, German racial legislation was applied within the Protectorate, placing Jews under a distinct racial-legal regime and enabling systematic antisemitic measures enforced by German authorities and collaborating Protectorate institutions.
