Far-Right Demonstration and Anti-Roma Intimidation in Devecser

On 5 August 2012, Jobbik organised a large far-right demonstration in Devecser, where uniformed extremists marched in formation, brandished weapons, and shouted openly antigypsy slogans. Police failed to intervene despite clear intimidation of Roma residents. The European Court of Human Rights later ruled that Hungary had violated rights by treating violent hate speech as protected expression and failing to prevent ethnically motivated intimidation.
