Forced Evictions in Miskolc’s “Numbered Streets”

In 2014, Miskolc municipality began demolishing its segregated “numbered streets” without a relocation plan, displacing roughly 900 Roma residents and pushing many into homelessness. Families were moved to poorer, isolated areas with inadequate services. The Equal Treatment Authority later ruled the evictions discriminatory, a judgment echoed by human-rights organisations, which condemned the measures as efforts to drive Roma out of the city.
