Himmler orders deportation of Roma to Auschwitz

Himmler’s decree mandated the deportation of all “Gypsies” and “Gypsy mixed” individuals from Germany and occupied territories to Auschwitz. Nearly 5,000 Roma were transported from the Protectorate; only 583 survived. The order formalised the genocidal intent that had been incrementally implemented since 1939.
