Labour camps established at Lety u Písku and Hodonín u Kunštátu

Two disciplinary labour camps were opened to confine men deemed “asocial,” including a significant proportion of Roma and Sinti. Marked with a red “C” (for “Cikán”), prisoners endured gruelling labour, harsh discipline and inadequate living conditions. These sites foreshadowed the later transformation into racially defined “Gypsy camps,” which became crucial transit points en route to Auschwitz.
