Lack of Recognition in War Crimes Trials

Postwar war crimes trials in Czechoslovakia focused primarily on crimes committed against political opponents and Jewish victims, while violence directed at Roma communities was systematically marginalised. Roma survivors were seldom invited to testify, and crimes against Roma were dismissed as secondary or incidental. This judicial exclusion entrenched institutional indifference and reinforced the perception that Roma lives and experiences were of lesser importance within the justice system.
