Police Instruction on Handling Hate Crimes

Hungary’s National Police issued Instruction 30/2019 to improve recognition and investigation of hate crimes, defining bias indicators and victim-sensitive procedures. It mandated specialised training and encouraged cooperation with affected communities. Aimed at aligning with European standards, the directive sought to strengthen responses to hate-motivated violence, including offences targeting Roma.
