Post-war property decree and discriminatory implementation

Decree No. 5/1945 annulled property transfers made under Nazi rule, but in practice Jewish survivors often faced obstruction when reclaiming homes and belongings. Some officials—motivated by prejudice or self-interest—accused returning Jews of collaboration. Many found their property retained by wartime occupants, resulting in renewed injustice immediately after liberation.
