Protectorate bans nomadic life for Roma and Sinti

A decree forced all Roma and Sinti to permanently settle within two months, outlawing nomadism and placing entire families under direct police supervision. By compelling fixed residence and submitting Roma to relentless monitoring by gendarmes, the regulation enabled continuous racial identification, categorisation and control. This decree marked one of the earliest major steps toward total regulation of Roma life.
