Regulation introducing preventive police custody for Roma

A new decree enabled police to impose unlimited “preventive custody” on those deemed “criminal or antisocial,” explicitly including “Gypsies.” Many Roma were transported from assembly camps to Auschwitz as part of these measures. The regulation legitimised arbitrary detention and further blurred the line between policing and racial persecution.
