Suicide of Ejsik Weiss after antisemitic political speech

Jewish war veteran Ejsik Weiss took his life after Interior Minister Václav Nosek’s remarks portrayed Jewish soldiers as opportunistic late-joiners of the Czechoslovak army. The comments, publicised in Právo lidu, fuelled fear and anger in the Jewish community. His funeral became a quiet act of protest against persistent post-war antisemitism.
