Transports to the Auschwitz-Birkenau “Family Camp”

New transports from Theresienstadt took 5,007 Jews to a specially designated “Family Camp” at Auschwitz-Birkenau (section BIIb). Further transports followed in December 1943 and May 1944. The camp, with families kept temporarily together, appears to have served both labour and propaganda purposes before its eventual liquidation.
